Deconstructing April Fools

Yesterday I posted a photo of me holding a baby on my facebook page. However, I wasn't simply holding a baby. I wasn't playing with a friend's kid. The photo was taken in a hospital bed, I was wearing a hospital gown, holding a newborn baby swaddled in a blanket. No photoshopping or retouching was done to the photo. Everything about it is completely real. Except that I was never pregnant and it was a doll in the blanket.

Many of my friends played along with the joke, and this morning I received this email from a friend:
Ok, April Fool's is over . . . how'd you get that pic? Is it photoshopped? Were you actually in a hospital? Come on, reveal your secrets b/c inquiring minds want to know how you pulled off such a great pic and joke!

So I've decided to let you all in on how the joke came about. Last August we were shooting a video in a hospital. We had a major need for extras, so everyone working on the video eventually became featured extras. Somehow I was elected to be the "new mom". But since we had used all the men on set in previous scenes my roll turned into "single mom", which eventually we were all calling "sad single mom". This is a still frame from the video that we shot. Unfortunately, my part got cut because I looked "crazy". Or maybe it had something to do with me being the editor on the project. Either way, I decided that the photo should be seen at some point, and how perfect to let it go public on April 1st.

There you have it. Hope you enjoyed April Fools Day as much as I did!

April Fools

Happy April Fools Day!

Anyway, to set the record straight, I did not have a baby today. But hey, if you want to send me presents I will gladly accept!
